Chairperson – Judy Arteche-Carr

Judy Arteche-Carr, Chairperson, Society for Information Management (SIM), New York and SIM International’s Management Council VP for Partner Relations. Judy Arteche-Carr is the CEO and Managing Director of Arteche Global Group. She is a strategic advisor to global companies, CXOs and governments focused on business strategies, global sourcing and risk. Judy has worked with management teams in the transformation of organizations, business alignment to information technology, financial and security management. Previously, she worked at Children’s Television Workshop (Sesame Street), Salomon Brothers (Citigroup), JP Morgan (JPM Chase), Electronic Data Systems (HP) and Unisys.

She also serves on the Advisory Boards of CIO Without Borders, HIC Alumni International, Philippine BPO/IT Council and Womensphere. Judy has received several awards for leadership, notably one of the Fifty Influential Asian Americans in Business and 100 Most Influential Filipina Women in the World. Periodically, Judy is an adjunct professor at Fordham University, New York and a frequent speaker at global conferences in Europe and Asia. President – Kurt Brungardt

is currently the Managing Partner at Swifte, a private equity firm that he founded in 2015. Swift invests equity capital in small and medium sized businesses with revenues of $500k – $100mm. Swift’s fundamental mandate is to help portfolio company owners, board, and management teams accelerate growth, increase profitability and create new value for both owners and employees.

Prior to his role at Swifte, Kurt served as Chief Information Officer and Managing Director for more than 14 years at MSD Capital, L.P., the New York-based private investment firm managing Michael Dell and his family’s fortune. During his more than 14 years at MSD Capital, Kurt worked with both investment and operations teams to enable MSD Capital’s growth to $15 billion in assets under management, while designing and implementing the business process and systems needed by MSD to manage, mine and share its proprietary research.
Prior to MSD Capital, Mr. Brungardt spent 12 years in business operations and project roles at Digital Power Networks and General Dynamics Electric Boat Division.
Mr. Brungardt co-founded the Hedge Fund Technology Group (HFTG), and currently serves as President of the New York chapter of the Society for Information Management. Kurt is also a mentor for Columbia University’s Executive Master of Science in Technology Management Program.

Erik, through DTG and his consulting firm, EMT Consulting, also advises clients in various industries on Information Security, Technology Strategy, and Emerging Technologies.Prior to joining DTG, Erik was VP of Information Services and Head of Americas IT for luxury retailer Hermès. He is also the former CIO for White Mountains Re Services a global Bermuda based Reinsurance Company. As an IT leader Erik has restructured technology departments to be less reactive and operations oriented, and instead focus on economically addressing business needs. This included deploying robust business intelligence solutions, ubiquitous cloud services, high speed redundant networks, and resilient disaster recovery. He has managed numerous security initiatives to ensure famous client data was protected and complex catastrophe modeling systems were easily accessible but extremely secure.Erik was the cofounder and President of eHire, Inc. an online technology recruiting and placement firm. He was also the Director of Technical Services for ManTech Computer Services, before ManTech and its parent company, Manchester Technologies, were sold to ePlus. Earlier in his career, Erik worked for Price Waterhouse as a Management Consultant and Chase as an IT Vice President. He began his profession at IBM where he provided technology consulting to clients in the Insurance and Financial Services sectors.Erik is affiliated with Baruch College as an Adjunct Professor where he has instructed courses in Information Technology and Information Security. Previously, Mr. Carey was at AIG as SIO of their corporate systems Finance & Accounting group within the $15B International Insurance Division responsible for initiatives in support of Legal Restructuring, Divestiture, Financial Reporting, Budgeting & Planning, Technology Standardization & Upgrades, SOX, Disaster Recovery, Shared Services, and IT/Business process improvements.Before Wall Street, Mr. Carey enjoyed a 10+ year management consultancy tenure while at Computec, Ernst & Young, and/or James Martin & Company where he interfaced with many Fortune 1000 executives and assumed significant roles at clients inclusive of Warner Lambert (now Pfizer/J&J), Merrill Lynch, Barnes & Noble, Baker & Taylor, Dress Barn, and MetLife. Cindy_retouched_webCindy Finkelman is the CIO at FactSet Research Systems, responsible for driving technology strategy and solution delivery for all internal business processes, as well as oversight of quality assurance for the Product and the Company’s project management office. In this capacity, Cindy works in partnership with senior business leaders to drive technology enabled business transformation programs aimed at building scale in critical business functions. Prior to joining FactSet, Cindy was the VP and Business Unit CIO of New York Life Insurance Company.
Previously, Cindy was the head of Global Operations& Systems for HR at Alico where she was hired to build a world class infrastructure and service delivery capability in preparation for an IPO of the unit from AIG. Cindy has also held leadership positions at Merrill Lynch, Marsh & McLennan, Prudential, Booz Allan & Hamilton and MetLife in IT strategy, application & infrastructure management. Cindy’s passion is for people development; she has sponsored various mentoring programs and held key leadership roles in various Women in Technology initiatives.
Cindy has an MBA from New York University in Corporate Strategy & Entrepreneurship, and a BS from the State University of NY at Albany. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Hearts of Gold, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to break the cycle of homelessness among mothers and children in the shelter system. Cindy resides in New York City with her husband, two children and their dog.

Mr. Plasencia is responsible for managing the company, formulating and executing long-term strategies, and interacting with clients, employees, and other stakeholders. A proven technology leader with deep expertise in developing strong customer relationships, a passion for building outstanding client solutions and a disciplined focus on operations and execution. In his 25-year career, Mr. Plasencia has held a wide variety of information leadership positions across key parts of reinsurance/insurance and financial businesses. Prior to founding Knightsbridge Technology Group, Mr. Plasencia was the Chief Information Officer and a Senior Vice President at Platinum Underwriters Holdings, a global reinsurance company based in Bermuda. Platinum, was created in 2002 via a successful initial public offering (IPO). Mr. Plasencia was a member of company’s Pre and Post IPO management team. At Platinum, he created and ran a nimble, entrepreneurial, responsive, forward looking and cost effective information technology environment. Platinum had a successful 12 year track record of delivering value to shareholders prior to being acquired at a premium by Renaissance Reinsurance in early 2015. From 1992 to 2002, Mr. Plasencia held the position of Technology Vice President at St. Paul Re, a division of Travelers. At St. Paul Re/Travelers, he was a key member of the management team that grew the company via acquisitions and organic growth from a primarily US based Company to a $1.250 billion Global Reinsurer. Mr. Plasencia serves on the Board of the Society for Information Management (SIMNY) where he is Vice President of SIMNY’s National Programs Committee. He is also member of the CIO Executive Summit Governing Body, and serves on the St. Baldrick’s Foundation Information Technology Advisory Group.


VP Marketing – Michele Scaggiante

is Vice President and Chief Information Officer of New York Blood Center. Mr. Scaggiante was appointed Vice President and CIO in November 2011. He is also a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) for NYBC.
In his current role, Mr. Scaggiante is responsible for the overall information technology strategy and operations of the New York Blood Center.
Prior to this, he held a series of leadership positions with Pfizer Inc. where he was responsible for the IT strategy and transformation of key functions in Medical, Manufacturing, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Corporate Affairs and Regional Operations in Europe and Canada.
Mr. Scaggiante began his career with IBM in Venice, Italy. He is a member of the IT Steering Committee of America’s Blood Centers (ABC) and a Member of the Information Systems Committee of the Association of America’s Blood Banks (AABB).
He holds an advanced degree in engineering from Padua University, Italy.

His leadership helps ensure that the company’s technology approach provides competitive advantage, predictable service at a competitive cost point, meets rapidly changing business requirements and positions McGraw Hill Financial for sustainable, long-term success.Chris manages technology resources for all corporate groups, including Finance, Human Resources, Communications, Global Manufacturing & Procurement, Corporate Affairs, Risk Management and Legal. VP Membership Retention – Ric Barnes
ricRic Barnes, Ric’s story is unique, in that, he has spent his entire adult career of 32 years at McGraw Hill Financial. He worked in many management positions before moving into IT as a Database Administrator. He moved through the ranks and currently is in charge of Database Engineering within Enterprise Systems. He has gained invaluable knowledge by working in every division of McGraw Hill over the years . He was a 2011 graduate of the Regional Leadership Forum (RLF) in the NY Metro area and has been a member of the NY Metro Chapter of Society for Information Management. He enjoys being a technologist and the challenges this industry brings. He has a B.S. Business Administration degree from the Whittemore School of Business at the University of New Hampshire.

Management and Business Analytics at the Feliciano School of Business at Montclair State University. She has extensive experience of teaching, advising, and training graduate and under graduate students and senior executives both in the U.S. and overseas at businesses, government agencies, and academic institutions. Some of these are Defense Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) Singapore, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) USA, US Department of Defence, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, General Dynamics, IBM, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) etc. Dr. Jain’s research and teaching interests are systems architecture and design, systems integration, business analytics, and technology management. Prior to joining academia she was at Accenture consulting for Fortune 100 companies in energy, telecom, utilities and financial services sectors.
She holds a M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Technology Management from Stevens Institute of Technology, USA. Dr. Jain is on the editorial boards of several international journals and is on the technical program committees of various international conferences. Dr. Jain is visiting professor to the Graduate School of System Design and Management, Keio University, Japan. Before joining Intercept Pharmaceuticals, Dan was Infrastructure Team Manager at Och-Ziff Capital Management Group, one of the largest institutional alternative asset managers globally. Jim Tosone is the Managing Director of Tosone Associates. He is the creator of the Improv Means BusinessTM program, which helps organizations enhance their innovation, collaboration, and communication capabilities using the principles and techniques of improvisation.
Prior to Tosone Associates, Jim was head of the Pfizer HealthCare Informatics. He also had responsibility for leading the Pharmaceuticals Business Technology Groups supporting Sales, Marketing, Medical, Finance, and Employee Resources. Jim created the Patient Centered Healthcare workstream, led the group that submitted the first comprehensive PC-based Computer-Assisted New Drug Application to the FDA, and led the team that developed the first set of worldwide safety standards for Pfizer’s clinical trials. He has a BS and MS from Stevens Institute of Technology.
Jim has been active in SIM for over fifteen years. He represented Pfizer on the SIM Advanced Practices Council and was the executive sponsor for several APC research projects. Jim graduated from the SIM Regional Leadership Forum in 1998 and sponsored dozens of Pfizer colleagues for RLF. In 2011, he was named the Regional Leadership Forum’s first Visiting Expert, and works with the Forums to apply the principles and techniques of Improvisation to Leadership. Jim has been a member of the NY Metro Board since 2008. He created the VP National Programs position to promote APC, RLF, and SIMposium in the NY Metro chapter and coordinated the tri-state recruiting for NY Metro RLF. In his current role on the Advisory Board, Jim’s area of focus is governance.
