In conjunction with the national SIM organization ( STEM History – Society for Information Management )who has donated in the past approximately $800,000 (combination of volunteer services and in furthering STEM and the industry,

SIMNY has enabled partnerships with:

We are extending this Community outreach to partner with the SIMNY Members on:

  1. IT departments community give-back programs
  2. Asset recycling- Equipment donations for schools and nonprofits
  3. Building a base of community outreach leaders for career counseling, building applications for the social good, etc…

 Volunteering Opportunities

 There are several ways to do this and in some cases, if you are already doing some of the programs, just let us know so we can list them.

  •  N Power
    This is an all-purpose registration form that can be sent to volunteers, nonprofits, and schools to ensure that they are tagged to SIMNY. This way, you will get an email which details the volunteer work needed. Examples as of Nov 10, 2016 are:
  • Code Brooklyn Hour of Code | Help kids learn to love Computer Science
    Code Brooklyn is an initiative of Brooklyn Borough President, Eric Adams, and its objective is simple: Every Brooklyn public school student gets the opportunity to learn to code.Code Brooklyn has set a goal of doing an “Hour of Code” event at EVERY Brooklyn public school this year during Computer Science Education Week (December 7 to December 13). There are 2 ways to get involved:·

    • Planning and Outreach
    •  In-Classroom Mentoring
  • NCWIT Aspirations in Computing | Recognize Young Women In Computing
    The National Center for Women and Information Technology (NCWIT) is a coalition of over 200 prominent corporations, academic institutions, government agencies, and non-profits working to increase women’s participation in information technology.Hundreds of volunteers are needed to help review and score online applications from thousands of young women and educators nationwide for NCWIT’s Aspirations in Computing and Aspirations in Computing Educators awards. Volunteering as an application judge takes 3 hours and can be done virtually.
  • School of the Future | Take learning outside the classroom
    School of the Future is a comprehensive High School that focuses mainly on critical thinking, writing across disciplines, college, and career readiness.Students from 11th and 12th grade have expressed interest in learning about Information Technology and are seeking unpaid volunteer experiences with professionals working in the industry. Students are willing to commit 4 hours per week and they earn academic credit for the experience. Help students from a small public NYC school build 21st century skills.
  • Arts & Letters School  | Configure iPads for Student Learning
    Arts & Letters is a small public school in Brooklyn encompassing Kindergarten through 8th grade. With only two classes at each grade level, they provide the children and young people with a caring and intimate learning environment.
    Assistance is needed in setting up and syncing iPads for use by the students (e.g. settings, parental controls etc).Have you got the touch?
